Our Parish
Episcopal Church
of the Redeemer
Episcopal Church of the Redeemer is an active, growing Episcopal parish committed to seeking and serving Christ in all persons. Ever since this place of worship, hope, and spiritual growth was first established at the corner of Chippenham Parkway and Huguenot Road in 1960 to the current location, they have attempted to serve God and others through a variety of ministries.
Redeemer Episcopal Day School (REDS) is the weekday ministry of the church. Because of the wonderful support from the church staff, and the parish members, our school has a positive and upbeat atmosphere where students thrive. Students partake in worship with our Chaplain on a consistent basis, so they can learn and thrive in their faith.
Meet our Chaplain, Kristen Ketron
Originally from the Annapolis, MD area, Kristen comes to us as an experienced teacher and director in the field of Christian formation for all ages.
After studying speech/language pathology at Radford University, Kristen began teaching at the Pre-K and K levels. In 1997, she took a hiatus from teaching after her first son was born and Kristen and her family moved to Paris, France. There, she held several volunteer positions at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and at the Convocation level as well. After returning to Powhatan in 2015, she joined the staff at St. Matthias’ in Bon Air and continued working as the Director of Formation Ministries. She has been active in the Diocese of Southern Virginia, attending seminars, planning and participating in retreats, and serving on advisory boards.

Kristen is an amazing addition to the church and school communities and we are happy to have her on board.
